O’s Notes: Mark plays trumpet, flugelhorn and conducts the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra. This is entirely a Buselli effort while the prior albums were co-led with trombonist Brent Wallarab. Brent will take charge on the next album. An Old Soul includes the swinging rhythms and rich harmonies that we’ve come to expect from Buselli. We were especially impressed with “My Shining Hour”, “Open Up Your Heart” and the title track. Kathleen Strutz ads vocals on five selections notably the sultry “Angel Eyes” adding a nice touch to the large ensemble.
