O’s Notes: Renaud plays bass in a trio with Kiko Ruiz (g) and Negrito Transante (d, perc). They performed this concert live at the Schloss Elmau Hotel in Germany during July 2005. The tonal mix between guitar and bowed double bass is seductive on the opener “Arcoluz”. Transante’s work as the timekeeper is well dispersed using many different percussive instruments. He adds beautiful colorations while Garcia-Fons and Ruiz share melodies and rhythms. Their energy is plentiful especially on “Berimbass” and “Anda Loco”. It is easy to fall in love with Garcia-Fons’ work on bass. The DVD is an excellent addition that brought the action into our living room!
