O’s Notes: Sam’s music is brassy with a large symphonic sound. “Come Rain Or Come Shine” is an example of a standard that comes alive with this treatment. It is cinematic sound performed by a large ensemble. Sam pays homage to his dad Harold one of the formidable songwriters of American songbooks. Sam also takes the opportunity to display his skills on tenor sax notably on “Moanin’ In The Mornin'”.
