O’s Notes: If you like that fun strumming, quick picking, jazzy bluegrass sound, this is your ticket. Ordinarily, you would associate this with guitar playing, but Jethro and Tony are two of the pioneers of jazz mandolin! Brought together by David Grisman in 1979, they raised cane in a frolicking session. They got help from Eldon Shamblin (g), Ray Brown (b) and Shelly Manne (d), an all-star rhythm section. This release on CD in 2005 includes a second disc of alternate takes on each of the originals. The alternates provide more color and give further character to a fun session.
