O’s Notes: The 8-Bit Big Band is a cross section of some of the world’s finest musicians with video gamers. They play the songs behind many video arcade games! But you needn’t be a video junkie to appreciate the music. This is a happy big band, especially on tunes like ”Saria’s Song”, “Birdman”, “Hydrocity Zone” featuring Grace Kelly on alto sax, and “Want You Gone” with vocals and trumpet solo by Benny Benack III. We also enjoyed “Jump Up Superstar” featuring Grace Kelly, this time on the mic! There is much to enjoy and little to skip on Backwards Compatible, their 3rd volume of great music.
