O’s Notes: Trombonist Joel Yennior leads a trio with Eric Hofbauer (g) and Gary Fieldman (d). He does a fine job handling both bass duty and occasionally the melody as they swing through nine selections, a balance of covers and originals. Joel surfaces the sweet tone of his horn on “A House Is Not A Home” and again on “Postcard to Dorothy”. Perhaps the most creative section of the album is the Suite titled “Justice Lost” featuring Yennior’s use of a mute to create a blues mood and some excellent work on the skins by Fieldman on the title track. This is a fine debut for Joel as a leader and we look to his next effort.
