O’s Notes: This quartet really swings. “Junior” and “Limehouse Blues” are examples that kept out foot patting the floor. It is composed of Larry Koonse (g), Dave Stone (b), Ray Brinker (d) and Russ on clarinet. The delicate tones of the instruments are allowed to blossom, especially the guitar and clarinet. You can hear this well on “I Surrender Dear” for example. Good sound along with well paced rhythms make Blue Scarlett shine on the straight ahead jazz set.
