O’s Notes: This is not your ordinary jazz big band! Bass clarinetist and composer Todd Marcus leads the action. He reflects of the recent plight of his Egyptian heritage on Blues For Tahrir infusing subtle elements of Middle Eastern music into his works. The sound is rich and vibrant with a modern, contemporary flare. His band includes world-class musicians Alan Ferber (tb), Greg Tardy (sax) and featured vocalist from Italy Irene Jalenti. Marcus succeeds in imparting loads of passion in his work and it is an enjoyable experience.
