O’s Notes: Craig (sax, cl) leads a quintet featuring Brian Atkinson (t, vibes), Dave Witham (p), Joel Hamilton (b) and Paul Kreibich (d). They are a swinging band that is well integrated. They play eleven of Buhler’s original compositions with a pleasing spirit. Among the best are “October”, a relaxing song with Craig and Brian sharing the melody (sax & vibes) and “Molly Ann” with its festive Latin spirit. We also like “Madrid Session with its retro big band sound. These are soothing songs with lots of character.
