O’s Notes: Drummer Daniel Barnes leads a large ensemble through a rather diverse program of modern jazz. He wrote, arranged and produced all eight tunes. He starts with a swinging “Short Bop” and continues with a great program that moves to a festive side with “FJD” then a slower pace with “Don’t Push My Love Aside” featuring trumpeter William Sperandei. There are lots of musicians but nothing gets in the way of the music, it just flows. The program is versatile, easy to engage in and well executed.
