O’s Notes: This is a live recording at Cecil’s in S. Orange, NJ late in 2003. The players are: Patrick Rickman (t), Brian Horton (sax), Ameen Saleem (b), Jeb Patton (p), Kevin Sholar (p) and Harper on drums. There is a nice mix of songs including a cool cover of “Little Sunflower”, the spirited “Divine Intervention” written by Harper. The variations in tempo along with precise solos from each of the players make for an engaging session. Harper reaffirms his position as one of today’s leading jazz drummers and bandleaders.
