Jansen assembles a grooving sextet with Delfeayo Marsalis (tb), Duane Eubanks (t), Ralph Peterson (d), Dezron Douglas (b) and Zaaccai Curtis (p).““From the opener “Stacey’s Pace” everyone gets a taste, a theme that continues through all twelve tracks including six originals with three free flowing alternate takes. Jansen developed his groove playing at juke joints, interacting with the audiences and crafting his own swagger. You can feel it on “Brandon’s Blues” including a cool muted solo from Delfeayo and the funky “Bucket Full of Soul”.“Common Ground brings together six musicians form two generations to produce a swinging set.
