O’s Notes: Complete Ballets are a collection of very symphonic songs composed by the late John Alden Carpenter for full orchestra. They are performed here by Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) under the direction of conductor Gil Rose. The program has three movements starting with “Krazy Kat”, 9 songs celebrating the popular cartoon. “The Birthday Of The Infanta” is based on an Oscar Wilde children’s story, 11 selections including some operatic vocals. The final segment is “Skyscrapers”, a ballet of modern American life. With 29 selections, there is enough content for all, perhaps more tilted towards the classical audience.
