O’s Notes: Clarinetist Buddy DeFranco is north of 80 years old for his debut on Arbors Records. But let me assure you that he can still swing hard! Buddy adds the John Pizzarelli (g, vocals) Trio: Martin Pizzarelli (b), Ray Kennedy (p) along with veteran drummer Butch Miles to complete the lineup. This grouping initially came together at a concert in honor of Bucky Pizzarelli during 2003. The strong reception encouraged them to do this project. Swing fans will be thrilled with the results. After 60 years in the business DeFranco is still learning, enjoying himself and pleasing his audiences!
