O’s Notes: Poncho is living up to the title with a healthy dose of funk injected into his Latin grooves. “Shotgun Slim” is a soulful example of the funky side while “Yo Quisiera” remains true to his Cha-Cha traditions. Poncho also picks up the mike on a few of these tracks and does it justice! David Torres adds keyboards and B3 while Tony Banda establishes the mood on bass. There is a lot of brass including appearances by Hugh Masekela and the Tower of Power Horns.
