O’s Notes: Trombonist Sean Nelson leads a 17-piece ensemble, The New London Big Band on Don’t Stop Now, playing the lost music of Thad Jones, written for Harry James. Nelson’s band is almost ten years old, playing regularly in New England. He’s also a member of the Coast Guard’s concert and jazz bands. Sean’s current work is an excellent performance of the masterful Thad Jones’ compositions, showcasing the power and dynamics of the music. They swing across all eleven selections.
