O’s Notes: Nicole Glover is a young tenor saxophonist who was challenged by the great Wayne Shorter to lead as a key success factor. She eventually embraced the advice and surrounded herself with mentors, friends and spiritual influencers. On First Record we have pianist George Colligan, bassist Jonathan Lakey and drummer/producer Alan Jones supporting Glover on her debut. She composed all of the music except “String Quartet in F” which is by no means a classical piece. This is a session that has vibrant, cool and warm songs, a fine effort for a budding artist.
