O’s Notes: Good Time Blues is a swinging session. You can feel it immediately on the opener, “Hittin Twelve”. There’s a little boogie woogie on “I Needs To Bee’d With” and they play the blues on the title track led by Basie. Freddie Green does good work on rhythm guitar working well with drummer Harold Jones. In fact, all of the musicians fare well collectively and on solos. The mood is happy and the beat is right. Let’s have a dance!
