O’s Notes: Hamiltonia is a collection of highlights from Chico’s four releases in 2006. We found those to be first-rate albums and had high expectations for this sampling. Among the best of the best are the warm “How’s Your Feelings”, “Mulligan Stew” and “Lu Tu”. There are also a couple of bonus tracks that add more character to the mix, notably the remake of Hamilton’s famous “Conquistadors”. Drummer and composer Hamilton extracts the best out of his band, especially Cary DeNigris (g) and Karolina Strassmayer (sax, fl) making this collection a winner.
