O’s Notes: Pianist Lafayette Harris, Jr. assembles a fine band that includes seasoned performers like Houston Person (sax), Caleb Curtis (sax), Will Terrill (d) and George DeLancey (b). He adds two young vocalists Jazzmeia Horn and Nol Simoné Wippler for three selections. They sing together on “Blue Skies”. The title track is a bluesy swinger composed by Harris in the 1990s, one of six originals in the set. Curtis contributes “The Wheelhouse” that has a different twist but keeping within the groove. This is enjoyable listening especially “The Very Thought Of You” with Person on his A-game.
