O’s Notes: Bill plays sax, arranges and composes for large ensembles. He’s been doing it for over 50 years and he’s one of the best. Hommage is a tribute to the legendary Woody Herman and it is well done. One of the high points of Holman’s bands is the constituent musicians. They all get a chance to shine. Some of the best here are Pete Christlieb (sax), Carl Saunders (t), Christian Jacob (p) and Bob Efford (cl). This is a live recording and the band seems to feed off of the highly engaged audience.
