O’s Notes: Clarinetist, Don Byron teams up with Jock DeJohnette (d) and Jason Moran (p) to explore new territory. It comes in the form of fresh arrangements including Miles’ “Freddie Freeloader” and “In A Silent Way” and Gershwin’s “Somebody Loves Me”. Byron also adds four originals like the bouncy “Leopold, Leopold” which includes bassist Lonnie Plaxico and Ralph Alessi (t). The mood is grey and creative spirit plentiful.
