O’s Notes: Jim (p, vibes) got together with Doug Henry (sax, cl), Tom Hildreth (b), Jim Lacker (d) and guest artist Loonis McGlohon (p) during December 2001 to make this recording. While this group of musicians may seem to be obscure, they have an abundance of talent. In fact they’re all well known in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The late McGlohon is legendary as an educator in the area and introduced music to both leader Jim Stack and producer John Snyder. The results come through with resounding clarity. Over 50 minutes and eleven songs, all classics like “Skylark”, “Days of Wine and Roses” and “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”. The melodies are generally handled by Henry who does an excellent job. Now that you know these guys, sit back and enjoy the music!
