O’s Notes: You may not be familiar with jazz trombonist Bob Ferrel but I’m sure you’ve heard him! Bob has played with The Duke Ellington Orchestra for forty years and toured Europe for 20 years with The Spirit of Life Ensemble before surfacing as a leader on“Jazztopian Dream. This is a swinging set of Classic bebop tunes featuring Farrel’s sweet trombone tones with lots of brassy arrangements. Dwight West steps up to the mic with vocals on four selections notably “Yardbird Suite”, “Don’t Go To Strangers” and “You’ve Got To Have Freedom”. We also enjoyed “Alter Ego”, “Inner Glimpse” and “We Began With A Kiss”.
