O’s Notes: PJ and Campbell both play sax and they come together on this live set at Vancouver’s Cellar Jazz. The rest of the band is Terry Clarke (d), Neil Swainson (b) and Ross Taggart (p). We first questioned the merits of duplicate instruments leading a quintet. But after listening we found that their styles are different. Ryga blows more mellow tones while Perry plays gutsier, in-your-face sax. See if you can pick who is playing on these seven tracks. While you’re choosing, we’re sure you will become engulfed in the swinging tunes, all of them!
