O’s Notes: The wispy sax of Joe Lovano is unmistakable warm and romantic on the opener, “Autumn In New York”. Joe chooses Hank Jones (p), George Mraz (b) and Paul Motian (d) to accompany him on this 17th Blue Note recording. He uses his tenor to vary the mood of many songs softening the edge of “Bird’s Eye View” and creating the intensity on the title track. Eleven polished tunes are performed to Lovano’s usual standards.
