O’s Notes: Drummer Rich Thompson leads a hot quintet with Terell Stafford (t), Doug Stone (sax), Gary Versace (p, B3) and Bassist Jeff Campbell. They open up blazing on “Lotus Blossum” before successively taking it down a notch with a Latin tinged arrangement of “I Didn’t Know What Time It Was” and the mellow “Camping Out”. These are just a few highlights in the well balanced, entertaining session that is true to the title.
