O’s Notes: Taylor is a 23-year-old pianist with a lot to say through his music. We suggest a listen! His band is Julian Lage (g), Reuben Rogers (b) and Eric Harland (d). Special guest Joshua Redman (sax) shows up as they crank up the heat on “Timeline” a tribute to the late Michael Brecker. They reinvent classic standards like “Caravan” with Lage giving it a touch of fusion and Eigsti dancing across the keys. Taylor also contributes four originals notably the title tune with multilayered piano tracks. Edmar Casteneda (harp) joins the fray bringing a dose of Latin rhythms that is exciting. It’s a strong session and an excellent follow-up to the critically acclaimed Lucky to Be Me.
