O’s Notes: Joe leads his large ensemble from the lead trumpet chair. They play a dozen jazz classics starting with “Take The A Train”. The splendor of Joe’s lush trumpet is something that must be heard. He leads the melody on “How Do You Keep The Music Playing” making his horn sing vibrantly. You will also enjoy his work on “It Never Crossed My Mind” and “Girl Talk”. The band is crisp with solid contributions from Chasey Dean (sax), Lou Caputo (sax) and Joe Hrbek (sax). The New York Big Band can lift your spirits and sooth your soul. They cap the session with a vibrant performance of “Moondance”.
