O’s Notes: This is a free flowing live session that swings. Jerry (sax and vocals) is joined by Mike Merritt (b), James Wormworth (d), Brian Charette (p, organ) and special guest Lew Soloff (t). They gathered at Shanghai Jazz, one of Northern New Jersey’s top jazz and dinner spots. The song selection includes upbeat numbers like “Walk Right In” and “St. Thomas” and well as smoky blues tunes like “Harlem Nocturne”. The audience participates on “Caldonia” and the band soaks up the energy with spirited solos throughout the set. It spilled out on “House Party”. There is no question about the level of satisfaction from all that were present!
