O’s Notes: Latin pianist Nachito Herrera is performing live at Minneapolis’ Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant. The band is a quartet with Terry Burns (b), Shai Hayo (perc) and Gordy Knodtson (d). The program is split between Herrera’s originals and a few classics, two. But Nachito’s arrangements make Shorter’s tunes heavy Cubano, especially “Speak No Evil”! If you want to wake up your piano, invite Herrera to play a few tunes. He works the ivory hard but is precise and soulful with every note. Nachito has a strong game!
