O’s Notes: Live at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival“features pianist Laura Dubin leading a trio with bassist Kieran Hanson and Antonio H. Guerrero on drums. This is a swinging band with lots of energy and good spirits. There are two discs with over twenty-one selections. They include spirited solo piano tunes like “Handful of Keys” with explosive exchanges by Dubin; lively blues tunes like “Something’s Cookin'”; some ragtime, waltz, pop and Latin. It all lands on an appreciative audience that undoubtedly had fun. We certainly did!
