O’s Notes: This is bassist Tate as a leader in a quintet with Harry Allen (s), Howard Alden (g), Dave McKenna (p) and Butch Miles (d). The session was recorded in Ireland in late 1996. Harry and Howard stand out, especially with “On the Alamo”. Tate makes the most of the session strutting his stuff on “Willow Weep For Me”. The band comes together nicely on “Just You Just Me” capping a swinging set.
