O’s Notes: The cast is Ryan Kisor (t), Ian Hendrickson-Smith (as), Michael “Spike” Wilner (p), Barak Mori (b) and Charles Ruggiero (d). These young cats are all from uptown Manhattan. They polished their chops at Augie’s and Smoke, where this was recorded live in April 2004! These are fresh new tunes mostly written by the band members. It’s all 1st take stuff and it has spark. Our favorite of seven strong songs is “A Foolish Lament” on the mellow side of the set. We hope they don’t stop with this session because they potentially have a lot more to say.
