O’s Notes: Lee is considered one of the more creative and independent jazz saxophone players. This is a live performance at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles. Konitz performs eleven songs, mostly his own, in a duo with pianist Alan Broadbent. His wispy alto sax has characteristics that are unique, somewhat vinegary. While he was inspired by Miles and his teacher, Lennie Tristano, his signature is his own!
