O’s Notes: This quartet features four strong musicians. Marcus Strickland handles most of the melodies on sax while pianist Carlton Holmes provides the glue for the team. Dezron Douglas plays a solid deep bass and anchors the beat with master drummer and leader Michael Carvin. Each of these guys can also solo and they do so throughout the session livening up these timeless standards. They have a great chemistry between them and they really shine on the ballads “Body and Soul” and “Forest Flower”. The arrangements are fresh, many times opening with provocative intros to peek curiosity. Well done.
