O’s Notes: The 17-piece Vancouver Jazz Orchestra gets a little spice with the addition of Brian Charette on the Hammond organ. He’s up front as they burst out of the gate on “Equestrian Interlude“, providing glue and accents elsewhere. We liked Jack Duncan’s (percussion) & Michael Kim’s (t) work on “Lado a Lado”, “Color Contrast”, “Honeymoon Phase” featuring Dave Sikula (g), and “The Same Old You with the Same Old Blues”. This is a large ensemble experiment that works well.
