O’s Notes: Guitarist Doug MacDonald moved to LA in 1980 and eventually drifted east to Palm Springs where he connected with bassist Larry Holloway (from Seattle) and drummer Tim Pleasant (from New York) to form the Coachella Valley trio. Guest artist Big Black adds djembe to six selections. MacDonald leads the melodies on most of the songs with gentle swinging rhythms that are appealing and easy on the ears. Mid Century Modern is mostly classics with a few originals blended into the mix.
