O’s Notes: Edy is a masterful composer, arranger, conductor and pianist. His large ensemble is a powerful Latin Big Band complete with brassy accents and lots of percussion. Martinez plays hard and he makes the piano speak with the band especially on the opener “Suite For Piano, Percussion & Jazz Orchestra”. This is a strong hint of what follows for ten energetic pieces in all. They do come up for air, relaxing the tempo on “Disapear” featuring guest soloist Claudio Roditi (t). “Manuela Si” and “Tres Manueles” are cool mid-tempo tunes but these cats are best cooking with the gas turned up high!
