O’s Notes: This duo consists of David ‘Doc’ Livingston on piano & clarinet with John Cipolla on clarinet. They play a dozen swinging classics including Artie Shaw’s “Moon Ray”, “Body and Soul” and “Blackstick”. The spirit is bubbly throughout the set. Those who like clarinet-laced melodies will be thrilled as Cipolla unleashes a furious attack on several solos as well as many soothing passages. When both musicians play clarinet on “Lady Be Good”, it is a cat and mouse chase full of excitement. We enjoyed it.
