O’s Notes: This is upbeat swinging jazz that is packed with juice. Jeremy Pelt (t), Danny Grissett (p), Richie Goods (b) and E.J. Strickland (d) join sax player Vincent Herring. Grissett’s work on piano sparkles from the opener through the entire set. Most of the songs were written by the band except a few covers. The nine tracks consist mostly of upbeat and energetic songs with the exception of “You Leave Me Breathless”; a ballad that swings which gives Vincent a chance to display his romantic side, and a few mid-tempo encounters. We found all of the tracks easy to engage with and worthy of repeated listening making this one of our favorite CDs of the quarter.
