O’s Notes: MTE is five Brazilian musicians: Benjamin Taubkin (p), Isaias Bueno De Almeida (mandolin), Israel 7 Cordas (g) Naylor Azevedo (sax) and Guello (perc). They play their own interpretations of choro music. We liked the bubbly “Sonoroso” and “Lamentos do Morro”, two of the nine songs. We also like the beauty of Taubkin’s piano and Almeida’s mandolin blending on “Lamentos” before the festive finale “Cheguei”.
