O’s Notes: Michael Rabinowitz is one of a few jazz bassoon players. He’s been continuously improving his prowess as an improviser over many years with six previous albums as a leader. Rabinowitz hits his stride on Next Chapter in a quartet with Matt King (p), Andy McKee (b) and Tommy Campbell (d). The music is all originals, 2 by King and 6 by Rabinowitz. We enjoyed the fleeting “Minor Blues Experiment”, “One For All”, “MRab” and the title track.
