O’s Notes: This assemblage defies characterization. The music includes originals from Haden (b) and Gonzalo Rubalcaba (p) along with music of Cuba and Mexico. The theme is centered on a relaxed bolero. The notes are soft and subdued yet expressive. The musicians include David Sanchez (s), Pat Metheny (g), Joe Lovano (s) and Ignacio Berroa (d). Federico Britos Ruiz adds a nice touch on violin on three songs. It’s a nice choice for post-dinner drinks and conversation.
