O’s Notes: Composer, arranger, conductor Seulah Noh leads her Jazz Orchestra on Nomad released this past summer. There are nine engaging selections including a three-part Traveler’s Suite. We liked “Sail at Dawn” (in the suite), “Have You Heard”, and the warm brass on “Hear The Light” featuring vocals by Astghik Martirosyan. They open and close with alternate takes of “L’illusionniste” with beautiful vocalizations by guest artist Song Yi Jeon accompanying spirited instrumentation. The large ensemble is rhythmic and precise with attention to subtleties that allow individuals to flourish.
