O’s Notes: One Trip Out is a collection of individual and group original compositions by The John Lewis Trio. Lincoln Apeland plays bass; Merik Gillett plays drums and leader Lewis is on the keys. Their music is unique but approachable as they swing on the title track, “Sly Steps” and “Sixty Miles Short”. The melodies are deliberate with surefooted improvisation all the way through.
