O’s Notes: Gypsy Schaeffer is Andy Voelker (sax), Joel Yennior (tb), Jef Charland (b) and Chris Punis (d). They compose thirteen new compositions that are creative and fun. We liked the jovial bounce of “Grape Soda And Pretzels” and “Shark Tank”. Half of the songs are more free jazz like “Double Quartet” and “Identity Crisis”. The balance is more pop-fusion. We preferred the latter.
