O’s Notes: Jazz pianist Larry Fuller polished his chops playing behind Ernestine Anderson, Jeff Hamilton, John Pizzarelli and the legendary Ray Brown. But he’s stepped out as a leader over the last six years with his trio, featuring bassist Hassan Shakur and Lewis Nash on drums. These guys swing on the opener “Fried Peas”, simmer into some pop on “Overjoyed” and cook on “Lined With A Groove” with Shakur working hard. Those are just the first three selections of a dozen, including a couple of originals notably “The Mooch”. Fuller let’s loose on “Cubano Chant” and “Bossa Beguine” balancing the session with a few ballads as well leaving listeners Overjoyed!
