O’s Notes: We had the pleasure of experiencing vibraphonist Christian Tamburr last August in collaboration between Charlotte’s Symphony and Jazz Arts Initiative. It was an exceptional performance blending the two art forms and opening listener’s minds to different vibes. Tamburr was a featured guest there and we picked up People Talk, his 2015 release after the show. This is collaboration with pianist Takana Miyamoto and percussionist Keith Ozawa. The program is a good mix of freshly arranged standards and Tamburr’s originals notably “The City Suite” with tastes on New York, Tokyo and Paris. The arrangements are unique and impart freshness to timeless old classics. This is especially true on “Summertime” and “Alone Together”.
