O’s Notes: Pianist and composer studied at Berklee College of Music under the tutelage of the late trumpeter Herb Pomeroy back in 1980. Among the many things he learned was arranging for a large ensemble. Almost 25 years later he produced Pinnacle, a CD with seven original compositions including an 18-minute suite with three movements. Special guest bassist John Patitucci has prominent solos on the first and last tracks. Ted’s objective was to capture all of the various jazz grooves and different brass combinations possible. In doing so he made music that is vibrant, dynamic and engaging for a wide audience.
